Union calls Caterpillar CEO's salary increase 'shameful and unwarranted'

The United Steelworkers union on Tuesday denounced Caterpillar Inc. CEO Doug Oberhelmanâ;€™s 32 percent compensation increase in 2012 as â;€Âoe;shameful and unwarranted.â;€Â;

Dow Jones reported that Oberhelman received $22.4 million in compensation last year, up from $16.9 million the year before. Read more about that here.

The disclosure comes amidst a challenging quarter financially for the company and an ongoing labor dispute in South Milwaukee, where USW Local 1343 represents 803 Caterpillar workers.
