MPS extends superintendent Thornton's contract to 2016

The Milwaukee Public Schools Board has extended Milwaukee Public Schools superintendent Gregory Thorntonâ;€™s contract through 2016, a district spokesman said Friday.

Thorntonâ;€™s salary and benefits under the next contract werenâ;€™t immediately available, spokesman Tony Tagliavia said. His previous salary was $265,000. The board approved the contract extension Thursday night.
