Milwaukee County Board approves changes to salaries, operations

The Milwaukee County Board voted 15-3 Thursday on its proposal to cut salaries and spending and more clearly draw the line between supervisorsâ;€™ and the county executiveâ;€™s powers.

The bill is in response to the state proposal on the same topic that would shift more power to the county executiveâ;€™s office and hold a referendum regarding a deeper cut to board salaries. The County Board proposal passed with a veto-proof majority, but would be superseded by the state bill if passed by lawmakers.
