Cost of 70 mph speed limit could be $135 per sign, hearing Tuesday

The state estimates it will cost $135 per sign to change the speed limit to 70 miles per hour on some interstates and freeways, and the total cost of the changeover may be tallied by a Tuesday hearing on the bill to increase the limit.

Wisconsin Rep. Paul Tittl (R-Manitowoc) this week formally introduced his bill to increase the maximum speed limit from 65 to 70 mph on interstates and freeways where state engineers deem it safe. His original bill would give the Wisconsin Department of Transportationâ;€¦;
