United Way FundraiserFirst Business employees organize and participate in an Annual Fish Races event to benefit United Way. The fish races are a spirited competition amongst employees of First Business and their selected goldfish. Two gutters are laid out side-by-side and filled with water to create a track for each fish to swim from start to the finish line. Contestants are allowed to encourage their respective fish to the finish line by spraying water from a spray-bottle into the track, however, some fish need little to no encouragement. In 2013 the competition featured 16 fish in a bracket-style format. The contestants donated personal funds during the United Way campaign for the fish races and the ability to wear jeans on Friday’s during the four week campaign. No fish were harmed in the event.

Charitable Contributions

Directors and staff of the bank wholeheartedly support making contributions to local charitable organizations in our market area. Our employees are approached individually by acquaintances, friends, and organizations and the giving process is difficult. In 2004, First Business established the First Business Charitable Foundation, Inc. to provide a funding mechanism and appropriate record keeping for the charitable contributions of three First Business entities: First Business Bank - Madison, First Business Bank - Milwaukee, and First Business Capital Corp.

Each entity has a corporate contributions committee that evaluates all requests for contributions and ensures that each need is given thoughtful consideration. All of our funds are earmarked for local charitable causes, with grants made to not-for-profit entities.
