Soo Locks open for Great Lakes shipping season
It might not feel like spring, but the Soo Locks have opened after their winter shutdown, marking the beginning of the 2013 Great Lakes shipping season.
The Soo, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., opened Monday after closing Jan. 15 for routine repairs and maintenance, according to an announcement from the Detroit district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
