Government Incentives for Electronic Health Records

Join us the morning of June 22 at Butte des Morts Country Club for a special breakfast event focused on the major provisions of the EHR Meaningful Use financial incentive program for physicians.

As you know, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) legislation was created to stimulate the adoption of electronic health records (EHR) technology in the United States. HITECH became law on February 17, 2009 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

The HITECH act stipulates that beginning in 2011, healthcare providers will be offered financial incentives for demonstrating meaningful use of electronic health records. Incentives will be offered until 2015, after which time penalties may be levied for failing to demonstrate such use.

Our event speaker, Mike Fischer, will explore the major provisions of the new incentive program. He will provide specific examples of how meaningful use can be demonstrated in a physician office and draw on his experience to provide suggestions for successful implementation. Mike will answer the following questions, and encourage additional questions from the audience:

  • What is the EHR Financial Incentive Program?

  • Who is eligible for funds?

  • What are the financial incentives for eligible medical professionals?
  • How is successful demonstration of an EHR measured?
  • How soon must a physician act?

Mike Fischer is an independent health care consultant with extensive experience in practice management and implementing EHRs in ambulatory health care settings. Mike is currently consulting with a large health care enterprise located in Eastern Wisconsin, as the HITECH Project Manager for over 1,500 eligible professionals.

First Business and Schenck SC are proud sponsors of this event for health care physicians and professionals. There is no cost to attend.
