First Business Bank Employees Work with Habitat for Humanity to Build a New Home for Local Family

April 26, 2012, Madison, WI - The employees of First Business Bank, along with Neider & Boucher, donated time and skills to build a house for a local family today. The construction was done in the First Business Bank Center parking lot in UW Research Park and is called a "Panel Build" by Habitat for Humanity. The purpose of a Panel Build is to construct all of the wall panels necessary to build an entire home. Today’s project will benefit the Morris family, originally from Ghana West Africa. The Morris family came to the United States to fulfill their dream of giving their children the best education, a better life, and owning their own home. The father of the Morris family was on the jobsite today to personally thank the volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County is a local nonprofit that through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the partner families. Habitat homes are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat houses.

"Our employees had a blast working on something so meaningful for a local family," says Mark Meloy, President & CEO of First Business Bank. "I saw a lot of smiling faces around here today. We are proud to be a community partners with Habitat for Humanity, who plays such an important role in Dane County."

The relationship between First Business and Habitat for Humanity deepens as First Business Bank will be funding the tenant improvement loan for the owners of the Odana Plaza Shopping Center for the build out of the space for the new west side location of Habitat for Humanity/ReStore. This facility sells new and used building materials to the public at discount prices. Proceeds from the store benefit Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. This will be an 11,500 square foot tenant space. Glenn Hovde is the managing partner of the Odana Joint Venture II, owner of the shopping center.
